Explanation of Settings
Below is a detailed explanation of the breathing settings for each type of custom Moment.
Slow Down
In these custom Moments, Somnox starts at a set Starting Tempo and gradually slows down the breathing rate throughout the session.
Time: Determine how long the Moment should last. Somnox will automatically turn off once the set time has elapsed. For focused breathing exercises, we recommend 5β10 minutes. For use in bed, choose a time slightly longer than the time it typically takes you to fall asleep.
Starting tempo: Select a tempo close to your natural breathing rate. This makes it easier to follow along with Somnox at the start of the session.
Ratio: This determines how long the exhale lasts compared to the inhale. For maximum relaxation, we suggest making the exhale longer than the inhale. For beginners, a 1:1.5 ratio is ideal. If this feels difficult, you can start with a 1:1 ratio.
Slowdown: This controls how much Somnox slows down the breathing rate during the session.
Light: A subtle slowdown.
Average: A moderate slowdown (recommended for beginners).
Deep: A significant slowdown (ideal for experienced breathwork users).
Exercise
In these Moments, Somnox breathes at a consistent pace throughout the session. You can precisely set the duration of each segment of the breathing pattern.
Time: See the explanation above.
Breathing segments: Set the number of seconds for each segment of the breathing cycle: inhale, hold, exhale, and wait before starting the next cycle. We recommend making the exhale equal to or longer than the inhale for a calming effect.
