In this article, we answer frequently asked questions about the sound that Somnox makes during breathing.

Is it normal for Somnox to make noise?

Yes, it is completely normal for your Somnox to make noise during breathing. Somnox simulates human breathing, and you may hear and feel sounds and vibrations. These sounds are intentionally designed to help you follow the breathing cycle of your Somnox.

During inhalation, you'll hear the vibrations of Somnox, and you may feel these vibrations on your hand. During the transition from inhalation to exhalation, there might be a very light 'popping' sound, indicating that the device is switching between the two breathing phases. These sounds are an integral part of the product experience.

How can I reduce the sound of Somnox?

You cannot completely turn off the sound that Somnox makes during breathing, but you can reduce it slightly. Here's what you can do:

Adjust the breathing intensity: In the Somnox App, you can adjust the breathing intensity of your program or exercise. Set it to 'Low intensity.' In this mode, Somnox's belly expands slightly less, and the sound it makes during breathing is also reduced. More information on how to do this can be found under the heading 'Breathing Intensity.'

Six other tips to reduce the noise of Somnox

Additionally, here are some other tips to minimize the impact of Somnox's sound:

  • Add white noise: Gently turn on 'white noise' or 'rain' sound as background music on Somnox. This can help mask the breathing sound of Somnox without introducing unwanted music.

  • Adjust your association: Some users find the sound of Somnox pleasant because they associate it with something positive, like a cat purring or the breathing of a loved one. See if there's an association that works for you.

  • Under the covers: Hold Somnox slightly more under the covers. The blanket's damping effect will make the sound of Somnox less audible.

  • Wear headphones or earbuds: If you prefer falling asleep with music or meditation, you can choose to wear comfortable headphones or earbuds while using Somnox.

  • Earplugs: If you prefer not to have music playing, you can consider wearing earplugs in bed.

  • Change the usage location: Use Somnox before bedtime or during the day. This reduces the chance of being bothered by the sound. Additionally, using Somnox during the day contributes to better sleep quality at night.
