If there is a new software update available for Somnox 2, we recommend you to perform this update. Whenever you update Somnox 2, a WiFi connection is needed between Somnox 2 and your phone. In this article, you will learn how you can set up a WiFi connection.

How do you connect Somnox 2 with WiFi?

  1. If it is the first time that you perform a software update of Somnox 2, you will need to connect Somnox 2 to WiFi. A new screen appears which asks you to set up a Wi-Fi connection.

  2. Click on Set up Wi-Fi to connect Somnox 2 to a 2,4 GHz Wi-Fi network.

  3. The Somnox App will search for 2,4 GHz Wi-Fi networks. Important! Somnox 2 only connects with a 2,4 GHz WiFi network, not with a 5 GHz WiFi network.

  4. If your mobile phone is connected to a 2,4 GHz Wi-Fi, the name of your Wi-Fi network will automatically appear. Otherwise, you will need to connect your mobile phone to Wi-Fi first, in your phone settings.

  5. Click on your Wi-Fi network and fill in your Wi-Fi password. In most cases, you can find the password of your Wi-Fi network at the back of your Wi-Fi router.

  6. Click on Set to Somnox. Somnox 2 is now connected with your phone via Wi-Fi.

Once the Wi-Fi connection is set up, and a software update is available, you can perform the software update. You can read how this works via the button below.

Where can you find your Wi-Fi password?

To set up a Wi-Fi connection, you need the name and password of your Wi-Fi network. You can find the name and password of your Wi-Fi network at the back of your router. The password on your router is mostly called Key or Password.

How do you know whether you are connected with a 2,4 GHz or a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network?

The most simple way to check this is by going to your Wi-Fi settings on your phone and searching for the available Wi-Fi networks.

One Wi-Fi network

If you only have one Wi-Fi network at home, you most probably only have a 2,4 GHz Wi-Fi network. You can select this Wi-Fi network if the Somnox App asks for setting up a Wi-Fi connection.

Two Wi-Fi networks

If you have two Wi-Fi networks, but just one router, you most probably have both a 2,4 GHz network and a 5 GHz network.

If you have two Wi-Fi networks, the name of your Wi-Fi networks mostly indicates which one is which.

  • If the Wi-Fi network contains 2.4G, 24G, 24, 2, or nothing extra, it is most probably a 2,4 GHz network. For example:

    • NameOfYourRouter_2.4G_Wifi

    • YourWifi_24G

    • YourNetwork2

    • HomeNetwork

  • If the Wi-Fi network contains 5.0G, 5G, or 5, it is most probably a 5 GHz network. For example:

    • NameOfYourRouter_5.0G_Wifi

    • YourWifi_5G

    • YourNetwork5

I cannot see in the name of the WiFi network whether it is a 2,4 GHz network or a 5 GHz network. What should I do?

If you only have one WiFi network at home, it is most probably a 2,4 GHz network. Do you still experience trouble with setting up a WiFi connection with Somnox 2? With an Android phone, you can see in the WiFi settings of your phone which frequency your WiFi network uses. With an iPhone, you can unfortunately not see this. You will have to contact your Internet Provider and ask for help.
