What is a software update and in what case should you do this?

Software is the operating system of Somnox 2. Once in a while, a new version of the software will be available with new features for Somnox 2. In order to get the newest software, you have to update Somnox 2. If there is a new software version available, you will see this in the Somnox App (see figure below).

How do you perform a software update?

Follow the steps below to perform a software update of Somnox 2.

Step 1: Download the Somnox App

Step 2: Open the Somnox App and create an account or login

Step 3: Connect Somnox 2 with your phone via Bluetooth

Step 4: Connect with Wi-Fi and perform a software update

  1. If a software update is available, you will see Update your Somnox at the top of the screen. Click this! It is also possible that you receive a pop-up screen that asks you to perform a software update. Just follow the steps.

  2. A new screen appears, click on A new update is available!

  3. If it is the first time that you perform a software update of Somnox 2, you will need to connect Somnox 2 to WiFi. A new screen appears which asks you to set up a WiFi connection.

  4. Click on Set up Wi-Fi to connect Somnox 2 to a 2,4 GHz Wi-Fi network.

  5. You may receive a prompt that asks for using your Location. You can either click on Allow Once or Allow While Using App.

  6. The Somnox App will search for 2,4 GHz Wi-Fi networks. Important! Somnox 2 only connects with a 2,4 GHz WiFi network, not with a 5 GHz WiFi network. This can be difficult to understand. Therefore, you can read more about connecting to WiFi by clicking the button below.

  7. If your mobile phone is connected to a 2,4 GHz Wi-Fi, the name of your Wi-Fi network will automatically appear. Otherwise, you will need to connect your mobile phone to Wi-Fi first, in your phone settings.

  8. Click on your Wi-Fi network and fill in your Wi-Fi password. In most cases, you can find the password of your Wi-Fi network at the back of your Wi-Fi router.

  9. Click on Set to Somnox. Somnox 2 is now connected with your phone via Wi-Fi.

  10. Somnox 2 will now automatically start the software update. A blue light appears on the control panel of Somnox 2 while updating.

  11. The software update will take approximately 1 to 2 minutes.

  12. If the software update is complete, Somnox 2 restarts. The blue light now changes to white light.

  13. Click in the Somnox App on Okay.

  14. If you connect Somnox 2 again to your phone via Bluetooth, you will receive a notification that the update is complete. The update has been successful!


Update not succesful?

If the software update is not successful, the Somnox app will ask you again to update the software. Make sure to connect with a 2,4 GHz Wi-Fi network on your phone. Need help? Please contact our customer service (contact details are given at the end of this article).
