We recommend fully charging Somnox prior to the first usage. You cannot use Somnox while charging. In this article, we will explain how to charge Somnox.

Charging Somnox

In order to charge Somnox, please connect the USB-C charger with Somnox and insert the plug into an AC outlet. Whilst inserting the USB-C charger end into the Somnox, make sure it is aligned with the tap direction of the power button (see image).

Somnox needs to be charged with a USB-C charger. We recommend using the charger that is included in the Somnox packaging.

⚠️ It is not possible to use Somnox whilst it is charging.

Frequently asked questions

How long do I need to charge Somnox?

Somnox is fully charged after approximately 5 to 6 hours.

How often do I need to charge Somnox?

With a full battery, you can use Somnox for around 5 sessions of two hours. If you listen to audio via Bluetooth streaming, the battery drains more quickly.

We recommend charging Somnox once every two days or when just one battery indicator light is turned on to optimize battery life.

Why is my Somnox out of battery even though I didn't use it?

When Somnox is turned off, it still uses a little bit of charge. If you do not turn on Somnox for several weeks, the battery drains without using it. So, if you have not used your Somnox for a while, give the battery a little charge.

Can I use another USB-C charger?

We recommend using the USB-C charger that's delivered with Somnox. Using another USB-C charger can affect charging time and battery life.

Check battery level

When your Somnox is charging and connected to an electrical socket via the USB-C charger, you can check the battery level. The battery indicator lights will light up and show the current battery level. You can find the battery indicator lights on the control panel (see image below).

⚠️ The battery indicator lights may not provide the correct battery percentage. The battery needs time to calibrate the battery indicator lights. Unfortunately, this means that in some cases even when the battery is fully charged, the 3rd battery indicator light keeps blinking. We are working on a firmware solution for this problem. You can try to shortly unplug the charger, and replug the charger to solve it yourself.

  • When only one indicator light turns on and flashes, the battery is almost completely dead, and you will need to charge the battery before you can start using Somnox again.

  • When only one indicator light is turned on, the battery is nearly dead, and it is time to charge Somnox.

  • When two or three battery indicator lights are turned on, you don't need to charge Somnox yet.

The chart below explains the meaning of the battery indicator lights in a visual way.

You can also check the battery level in the Somnox app. The instructions and images below show you how to do this.

  1. Click on the arrow in the upper right corner of the home screen (see image below).

  2. Now you will see the status screen on which you can check the battery level.

  3. You can see the battery level below Battery (in the image below, it's 100%).

Problems with charging

My Somnox doesn't charge fast enough

Sometimes it can seem as if your Somnox is not charging fast enough. Follow below steps to discover whether your Somnox charges fast enough.

  1. Make sure the battery of your Somnox is completely empty. When turning on Somnox, it will not start breathing and the first battery indicator LED will blink.

  2. Plug in the Somnox charger. The first battery indicator LED should keep blinking. This means Somnox is charging.

  3. After 6 hours, pull out the charger from your Somnox.

  4. Turn on your Somnox.

  5. Check the battery percentage of your Somnox.

    1. Do you see three battery indicator LEDs lid up? This means your Somnox is fully charged. You can also check this in the Somnox App.

    2. Do you see less than three battery indicator LEDs lid up? This means Somnox is not fully charged and not charging fast enough. Please contact our customer support.
