Why do you need to connect with the Somnox app?

For optimal use of the features of your Somnox, you can download and install the Somnox app on your phone or tablet. With the Somnox app, you can change the breathing and audio settings of your Somnox. You need to connect to the Somnox app to save and activate the breathing and audio settings.


How can you download the Somnox app?

The Somnox app is available for iPhone, iPads and Android devices. You can download the app by using the following link:


How can you connect your Breathe & Sleep Robot with the Somnox app?

Below you'll find how to connect your Somnox to the Somnox App.

iPhone / iOS

  1. Download the app in the App Store.

  2. Open the Somnox app on your iPhone.

  3. Create an account for the app (click here for a detailed explanation).

  4. Click on the button Connect Somnox.

  5. In order to connect to your Somnox the app needs access to Bluetooth. Next to that it's important that the Bluetooth service is turned 'on'.

  6. Once the permission is given, the app will automatically start searching for your Somnox.

  7. As soon as the app found your Somnox it will be displayed. Tap on the image of your Somnox. You can ignore the long string of text that is shown underneath the image.

  8. Once the Somnox is connected, you'll see 'Somnox is connected' at the top of your screen.

  9. You can now change your breathing and audio settings.

Good to know: If you've already connected to your Somnox once, when returning to the app, the app will automatically try to connect to your Somnox. This is indicated by the dark blue 'Searching' button on the home screen. After a few seconds, if the app was not able to automatically connect to your Somnox (e.g. because it was not turned on), you will be able to connect to it yourself manually.


Android

To connect your Android device to your Somnox you have to follow the next steps:

Pair Somnox with the app

  1. Download the app in the Google Play Store.

  2. Open the Somnox app on your Android phone.

  3. Create an account for the app (click here for a detailed explanation).

  4. Click on the button Pair Somnox.

  5. In order to connect to your Somnox the app needs access Bluetooth and Bluetooth needs to be turned 'on'. For Android 11 or lower, Location permissions and services need to be turned on as well. The Somnox app will automatically ask for these permissions.

  6. Once the permissions are given the app will automatically start searching for your Somnox.

  7. As soon as the app found your Somnox it will be displayed. Tap on the image of your Somnox. You can ignore the long string of text that is shown underneath the image.

  8. Once the Somnox is connected, you'll see 'Somnox is connected' at the top of your screen.

  9. You can now change your breathing and audio settings.

Automatically connect to your Somnox

After you've paired your Somnox to the app, it is possible to automatically connect to your Somnox.

  1. Open the app on your mobile phone

    1. If Bluetooth is turned 'on', the app will automatically try to connect to your paired Somnox.

  2. As soon as Somnox has been found, the app will automatically connect to your Somnox.

Unpair Somnox from the app

Below you'll read how you can unpair your paired Somnox. By doing this the app will 'forget' your Somnox and no longer try to automatically connect to it.

  1. Open the app on your device

  2. Go to 'settings' by clicking on the top bar

  3. Scrol down until you see the button 'Unpair'

  4. Press on the button 'Unpair'

  5. Somnox is now unpaired and disconnected. You can now pair a new Somnox.


Are you having trouble connecting?

Sometimes connecting to your Somnox doesn't work. Below you'll find the most common reasons and solutions for this.

The app can't find my Somnox device

After looking for available Somnox devices your app shows 'No Somnox found'. There can be multiple reasons why your Somnox was not found:

  • The necessary Bluetooth or Location permissions have not been given or the necessary Bluetooth or Location services are not turned on. The app will automatically check this and request you to grant permissions or turn these services on.

  • Your Somnox is turned off. Turn on your Somnox.

  • Your Somnox is charging. Remove the charger from your Somnox.

  • Your Somnox is located more than 10 meters away from your mobile or tablet device. Bring the Somnox and mobile device closer to each other.

  • Your Somnox is already connected to a different mobile device. Disconnect your Somnox from the other mobile device.

  • Your Somnox is performing an update.

  • Your Somnox is in 'airplane mode'. Turn off airplane mode, more information can be found here.

The app shows multiple available Somnox devices

Sometimes the app finds multiple Somnox devices even though you don't expect this to happen. It could be that there are more Somnox devices close by, but in most cases its a mistake by the app. Because of this, it can happen that you connect to an incorrect Somnox device. This is how you can check whether you have the right one:

  1. Note the first four characters of your discovered Somnox device (this is helpful for later).

  2. Tap on one of the discovered Somnox devices.

  3. After connecting and syncing, go the the 'Somnox' tab.

  4. Tap on the 'user' icon at the top.

  5. Check what the app says underneath the header 'Somnox version'.

    1. Does it say '0'? Then you're not connected to the right Somnox. Continue with Step 6.

    2. Does it say something else (e.g. 4.0.0)? Then you are connected to the right Somnox.

  6. Tap on 'Unpair' or 'Disconnect' further down in the screen.

  7. Search for available Somnox devices again and connect to the other Somnox this time. Repeat steps 3 through 5 again.

The Somnox is discovered but connection fails

You've tapped on your discovered Somnox but the connection or synchronisation fails. Sometimes the popup 'Failed' shows up. Sometimes the popup freezes and keeps showing forever.

In this case we advice you to close the app (by swiping it away) and open the app again. Also we advice to turn off and turn on the Somnox once before trying again.
